Tides
The nearby Destin Pass allows for regular water exchange between the Gulf of Mexico and Choctawhatchee Bay. During high tides, clear Gulf water flows into Crab Island. During low tides, brownish-green Choctawhatchee Bay water flows into Crab Island. High and low tide happens at least once a day and the time they happen changes daily. Water clarity can also be affected by other conditions such as storms, wind, rain runoff.
How To Find High Tide

2. Scroll down to the tide table
3. Take note of the legend at the top of the chart that shows the month, date, high tide, low tide, AM, and PM.
4. Find the month and date you are interested in
5. Find the high tide and low tide for the day(s) you are interested in.
In the example pictured below you can see that high tide for Sunday December 1, 2024 is 9:52 PM and low tide is 8:41 AM. On Monday December 2, 2024 high tide is 10:44 PM and low tide is 9:34 AM.
